More Blood on Judges' Hands - Deputy Omar Ursin's Accused Killers Were Out on Bond for Other Murders

Updated: Oct 7, 2022

The Harris County violent crime wave continues, with even off-duty police officers being murdered by violent criminals out on bond. On August 28, 2022, Harris County Precinct 3 Deputy Constable Omar Ursin was gunned down after simply picking up dinner for his family. The accused killers, Ahsim Taylor Jr. and Jayland Womack, were out of jail on bond for two separate murders (Taylor for capital murder). According to Harris County Office of Justice and Safety data, criminal defendants were released on bond in 61% of the 589 homicide cases that were filed last year (over double the 2018 percentage). Ever since we elected progressive judges back in November 2018, our criminal courthouse has been nothing more than just a revolving door. As we have repeatedly stated in this blog, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. How many more Harris County residents, including our area police officers, must be victimized before our elected officials finally get tough on crime? We strongly encourage Harris County voters to elect new criminal court judges this November. None of the incumbent, progressive judges deserve re-election.
