Deception or More Incompetence? Dems False "Crime Reduction" Claim is Based on Missing HCSO Data.
Updated: Nov 5, 2022
During the 10/26/22 Harris County Commissioners Court meeting, County Administrator David Berry (appointed by County Judge Lina Hidalgo and Commissioners Garcia and Ellis) claimed that, based on Department of Public Safety (DPS) statistics, the local violent crime rate was down 12% this year. Hidalgo, Garcia, and Ellis then hailed that data as an indicator that their crime fighting initiatives (more bike trails?) were working. As it turns out, Mr. Berry failed to mention (or perhaps didn't even notice) that the Harris County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) has failed to report applicable crime data to the DPS. When the media asked about the missing data, the HCSO claimed that it has failed to send its recent crime data to DPS due to "computer glitches" (which still haven't been corrected). So, Mr. Berry's claim of a 12% reduction in violent crime was false (the result of missing data, not less crime). Was this an intentional deception, or just more incompetence from another Democrat-appointed, county official? After all the other county fiascos (Elections Administrator mismanagement, Universal Services/JWEB incompetence, etc.), enough is enough. We need to return competency, integrity, accountability, and transparency back to Harris County government. On November 8, 2022, we strongly urge Harris County residents to vote for candidates Alexandra del Moral Mealer (County Judge), Jack Morman (Precinct 2), and all our other endorsed candidates.

UPDATE: As it turns out, over 7,000 crimes were excluded from the report given to Harris County Commissioners by County Administrator David Berry last month. We still don't know if this was intentional deception intended to influence local voters or just more incompetence. For more information on this story, please click on the link below:
