Another Harris County Peace Officer Pays the Ultimate Price - Deputy Jennifer Chavis - Rest in Peace

Updated: Apr 4, 2022

On Saturday, April 2, 2022, Harris County Precinct 7 Deputy Constable Jennifer Chavis, 32, was killed when her patrol vehicle was struck from behind by a suspected drunk driver, Mr. Adolfo Serrano, 36. Upon impact, Deputy Chavis' cruiser burst into flames and she was unable to escape the vehicle. Mr. Serrano, who has a prior criminal record (of course), was arrested at the scene and has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter of a Peace Officer.

Deputy Chavis was a member of Precinct 7's Toll Road Division and an U.S. Army veteran. She is survived by her husband, a 4-year-old son and an 11-year-old nephew that she and her husband were raising. Please keep Deputy Chavis' family in your prayers as they try to cope with this tragic loss - it is truly heart-breaking. Deputy Jennifer Chavis - Rest in Peace. Nemo me impune lacessit.
