HCSO Sergeant Ramon Gutierrez Killed by Suspected Drunk Driver. Sergeant Gutierrez - RIP.

On Monday morning, 1/24/22, Harris County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Ramon Gutierrez was working an off-duty extra job (traffic control / escort) when he was struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver. That driver, identified as Lavillia Spry, drove off from the scene but was later stopped and arrested. Spry has now been charged with intoxication assault manslaughter, failure to stop and render aid, and evading arrest. Spry's bonds have been set at a total of $275,000 for the three charges.

Sergeant Ramon Gutierrez was a twenty-year veteran of the Harris County Sheriff's Office. He leaves behind his wife (high school sweetheart) and three children. To add to this tragedy, Sergeant Gutierrez was reportedly working these extra jobs to help pay for his daughter's upcoming wedding.
